The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum saw its total number of visitors from home and abroad exceed 100 million on the 18th. A family from Shandong was among the lucky visitors.

The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum is currently the only comprehensive science and technology museum cluster in China that integrates a science and technology museum, a natural history museum, and a planetarium. The main Shanghai Science and Technology Museum opened in 2001, and later two branch museums, the Shanghai Natural History Museum and the Shanghai Planetarium, were added.

In an interview, Ni Minjing, director of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, stated that China's scientific and technological development has progressed rapidly over the past 25 years, leading to an increasingly urgent demand from visitors for high-level science and technology exhibits. Over the years, the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum has been very popular with tourists from all over the world, with overseas visitors currently accounting for approximately 5%.

The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum underwent a systematic upgrade and renovation of its main building in 2023 and reopened to the public in 2026. Following the large-scale renovation, the museum added popular science exhibits such as humanoid robots, and significantly increased interactive exhibits. The museum hopes that young visitors will experience the wonders of science through hands-on activities.

Zheng Qina, a long-time visitor to the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum born in 1992, brought her child, born in 2021, to the museum that day. "I told my child, 'This is the 'hair standing on end' (static electricity demonstration exhibit) that I used to play with when I was a child,'" she remarked. She added that while the exhibits at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum are constantly being updated with technological advancements, she can always find something familiar.
