Over the next three days (August 20-22), frequent rainfall is expected in Northeast and North China. Meanwhile, as the monsoon trough and tropical systems become more active, South China and other areas will enter a rainy season. From today to the next three days, influenced by the tropical depression in the South China Sea and the southwest monsoon, Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi, and other areas will experience widespread heavy rain, with some areas potentially experiencing torrential downpours.

Frequent rainfall in Northeast and North China, and rainy season in South China

Yesterday, precipitation across my country was relatively scattered, with heavy rainfall concentrated in Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hainan. Monitoring showed that parts of central and northern Hainan, western and southern Yunnan, central Guizhou, central Hunan, northern Chongqing, southwestern Hubei, northeastern coastal Fujian, Taiwan, and eastern Liaoning experienced heavy rain or torrential rain yesterday.

Over the next three days, as the subtropical high pressure extends westward and strengthens, cold air from the north will continue to move eastward, bringing frequent rainfall to Northeast and North China. Meanwhile, the monsoon trough and tropical systems on the southern side of the subtropical high pressure will become more active, leading to a rainy season in South China. Affected by the tropical depression in the South China Sea and the southwest monsoon, some areas in Hainan, Guangxi, Guangdong, and Fujian will experience heavy rain or torrential rain.

Specifically, today, parts of Hainan Island, southern Guangxi, southwestern and eastern Guangdong, eastern Fujian, Taiwan Island, central and eastern Zhejiang, northeastern Inner Mongolia, northwestern Heilongjiang, northeastern and southern Shandong, central and eastern Henan, western Hubei, northwestern Hunan, southern Sichuan Basin, southeastern and northern Chongqing, southeastern Tibet, northwestern and southern Yunnan, and northwestern Guizhou will experience heavy to torrential rain. Locally, areas in northwestern Hainan Island, southwestern Guangdong, central and eastern Fujian, southwestern and northeastern Taiwan Island, and southwestern Sichuan Basin will experience extremely heavy rain.

Tomorrow, moderate to heavy rain is expected in parts of central Inner Mongolia, central Heilongjiang, southern Qinghai, Shanghai, central and northern Zhejiang, southwestern Yunnan, northern and southeastern Tibet, northern Xinjiang, Taiwan, eastern North China, eastern Huanghuai region, Jianghuai region, central and eastern Jiangnan region, and southern South China. Heavy rain or torrential rain is expected in parts of the Shandong Peninsula, southwestern Guangxi, southern coastal Guangdong, western and central Hainan, northern South China, northern and eastern Jiangnan region, and Taiwan.

The day after tomorrow, moderate to heavy rain is expected in parts of Hainan Island, southern Guangxi, southern Guangdong, Fujian, Taiwan Island, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, southeastern Shandong, southeastern Hunan, central and western Sichuan Basin, northeastern Inner Mongolia, western Heilongjiang, western Jilin, eastern Liaoning, eastern Qinghai, and southeastern Tibet. Locally heavy rain or torrential rain is expected in southwestern Hainan Island, southern Guangxi, eastern Guangdong, southeastern Fujian, southwestern Taiwan Island, central and eastern Zhejiang, central and eastern Jiangsu, northeastern Inner Mongolia, western Heilongjiang, and eastern Liaoning.

In the coming days, monsoon troughs and tropical systems in the South China Sea and Northwest Pacific will become more active. Residents along the South China and Southeast coasts are advised to pay close attention to the latest forecasts, be alert to potential secondary disasters caused by heavy rainfall, take precautions during maritime operations, and make necessary preparations in advance.

The area affected by high temperatures in both the north and south has shrunk, but we still need to guard against hidden high temperatures.

As the subtropical high intensifies and extends westward, muggy weather has intensified again recently. Yesterday, although temperatures in many parts of North China and southern China did not reach the high-temperature threshold, the perceived temperature exceeded 35°C, resulting in a kind of "hidden heat." For example, in Xiqing District of Tianjin, the temperature at 2 PM yesterday was 31.7°C, and with the high humidity, the perceived temperature reached 35.6°C; in Xujiahui District of Shanghai, the temperature was 33.8°C, and the perceived temperature reached 38.8°C.

The sweltering heat will persist in both northern and southern China today and tomorrow, though its affected area will shrink. In the north, the high temperatures will be concentrated in Xinjiang and western Inner Mongolia, remaining primarily dry and hot. Scattered high temperatures will also occur in the south, mainly affecting parts of Jiangnan, Jianghan, and South China. For example, Wuhan will experience continued high temperatures tomorrow and the day after, with minimum temperatures reaching 26℃; Nanchang's minimum temperature will reach 27℃, with the heat lasting day and night.

Under the influence of the subtropical high, the perceived temperature in many parts of both northern and southern China will still exceed 35°C. The public in these areas should remain vigilant against the hidden heatwave, take precautions against heatstroke, and take precautions against heat exhaustion. (Source: China Weather Network)
