The State Administration for Market Regulation announced today that the national standard for fabrics used in camping tents and awnings will come into effect on August 1, 2027. This standard specifies the quality and technical requirements for various types of fabrics used in camping tents and awnings, aiming to guide companies to improve the functional indicators of outdoor textiles and enhance consumers' outdoor camping experience.

With the rapid development of the camping economy, the variety of camping tents and awnings has increased, and diverse scenarios such as mountaineering, exploration, and long-term travel are placing higher demands on the performance of fabrics. This revision of the standard optimizes and upgrades aspects such as product classification, quality indicators, and testing methods.

First, the product classification has been refined. The standard divides products into three categories based on applicable scenarios: short-term use in sunny weather, use in cloudy or rainy weather, and all-weather use, which better matches the actual needs of various outdoor users.

Second, quality requirements have been upgraded. The standards have improved key indicators such as tensile strength, tear strength, and waterproof performance, and have set differentiated indicators for waterproof performance, cold resistance, and weather resistance according to product categories, so as to continuously improve the performance and quality of products.

Third, standardized testing procedures have been established. The standards not only update and upgrade existing testing methods but also simultaneously add specific testing methods for wet rubbing color fastness and width deviation, enriching testing techniques and improving testing capabilities.
