The Africa Aviation Summit focuses on deepening cooperation and enhancing aviation connectivity.
The 10th Africa Aviation Summit and Exhibition, a two-day event, opened on September 9 in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, attracting more than 2,000 delegates from over 100 countries. Participants called on African countries to deepen regional civil aviation cooperation, improve air connectivity across the continent, and unleash economic growth potential.
At the opening ceremony, Kenya's Chief Minister and Foreign Minister, Mudawadi, said, "Aviation is not only a mode of transportation, but also an important support for promoting trade, tourism, investment, healthcare, education, humanitarian aid, and cultural exchange." He called on African countries to create a unified aviation market and leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement to promote trade, tourism, and investment.
African Civil Aviation Committee Secretary General Adsewa Adeyemi called on civil aviation authorities in African countries to accelerate regulatory coordination and promote mutual recognition of aviation safety standards.
Abdurahman Belte, Secretary General of the African Airlines Association, stated that factors such as high fuel taxes, exchange rate fluctuations, and restrictive bilateral air services agreements will continue to impact the profitability and regional expansion of African airlines. Governments and the aviation industry urgently need to strengthen cooperation to jointly build a competitive and resilient African aviation ecosystem. (Source: Xinhua News Agency)
