The century-old Waibaidu Bridge is one of the iconic landmarks in Shanghai, carrying the historical and cultural heritage of old Shanghai and witnessing the rapid changes of new Shanghai. Almost all films and TV series related to early Shanghai choose this location for shooting, and it is also a popular spot frequented by numerous photography enthusiasts and newlyweds taking wedding photos. Waibaidu Bridge is an all-steel structure bridge with a total length of 106.7 meters and two spans of 52.16 meters. It is an important passage connecting Huangpu District and Hongkou District in downtown Shanghai, with separate lanes for pedestrians and vehicles. Standing on the bridge in the daytime, you can enjoy the scenery on both sides of Suzhou Creek: one side is old-style alleyways, the other is modern buildings, the contrast between old and new makes people full of emotions. After nightfall, the surrounding landscape lights set it off more gorgeous and lively, attracting the attention of passing pedestrians. You can overlook the scenery of the Bund on the bridge, where the Shanghai People's Heroes Memorial Tower and the Bank of China Building are clearly visible. Across the Huangpu River, landmarks including the Oriental Pearl Tower, Riverside Avenue, Jin Mao Tower and Shanghai World Financial Center are all brightly lit. If you come in summer, blowing the breeze from the bank of Huangpu River, watching people on the ferry, listening to the wailing of the ship whistle, wandering around here is extremely pleasant.
