On November 7, Javier Perianes, the renowned Spanish piano master and 2019 Artist of the Year of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA), will stage his Shanghai solo debut at Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall. As a leading figure in the Spanish music scene, he has claimed numerous national and international art awards, earning wide acclaim for his poetic performance style. This concert integrates local masterpieces by Falla and Albéniz with Chopin's romantic repertoires, showcasing the lyrical poetry of Polish music and rich Iberian flair. Artist The international career of Javier Perianes has led him to perform in the most prestigious concert halls, with the world’s foremost orchestras, working with celebrated conductors including Daniel Barenboim, Charles Dutoit, Zubin Mehta, Gustavo Dudamel, Klaus Mäkelä, Gianandrea Noseda, Gustavo Gimeno, Santtu-Matias Rouvali, Simone Young and Vladimir Jurowski. The 2026/27 season features an array of high-profile concerts, including London Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken, Orchestre de chambre de Paris, Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España, and Lahti, China National, Napoli, Toronto, Indianapolis, San Diego and Houston symphony orchestras. Perianes leads Orquesta Sinfonica de Bilbao from the keyboard, and play-directs a Beethoven cycle with Auckland Philharmonia. Perianes frequently appears in recitals across the globe, with performances this season at Toulouse Jacobins, Casa da Música Porto, Palau de la Música de València, Académie & Festival Ravel, Lammermuir Festival and Shanghai Concert Hall. He also appears at prestigious festivals such as BBC Proms, Lucerne Festival, Argerich Festival, Salzburg Whitsun, La Roque d’Anthéron, Grafenegg, Prague Spring, Ravello, Stresa, San Sebastián, Santander, Granada, Vail, Blossom, Ravinia and the Canary Island Music Festival. As a natural and keen chamber musician, he regularly collaborates with violist Tabea Zimmermann, with recent dates at Carnegie Hall, Montreal Salle Bourgie, Princeton, Club Musical de Quebec, and Library of Congress. The duo will tour Italy this season, as well join forces with cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras for dates at Teatro Principal Alicante, Madrid CNDM, Palau de la Música Catalana, Fundaçao Calouste Gulbenkian, Filharmonia Naradowa Warsaw, Albert Konzerte Freiburg and London’s Wigmore Hall. Career highlights have included concerts with Wiener Philharmoniker, Leipzig Gewandhausorchester, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Washington’s National, Yomiuri Nippon and Danish National symphony orchestras, Oslo, London, New York, Los Angeles and Czech philharmonic orchestras, Orchestre de Paris, Cleveland, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and Swedish and Norwegian Radio orchestras, Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Budapest Festival Orchestra. With an extensive discography, Perianes’ most recent release features Manuel de Falla Noches en los jardines de España recorded live with Gustavo Dudamel and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra, released with Platoon. Other recordings include a selection of Scarlatti’s Sonatas, Granados’ Goyescas, and Chopin’s Sonatas No.2 and No.3 interspersed with the three Mazurkas from Op.63, all recorded with harmonia mundi. In 2025, Euroarts released a documentary recorded with Perianes at the Reales Alcazares in Seville, showing the special relationship between Scarlatti and Albéniz, linked to the city of Seville. Following this, 2026 sees the release of another Euroarts documentary recorded at La Alhambra in Granada, celebrating the music of Manuel de Falla during the 150th anniversary year of his birth. Perianes was awarded the National Music Prize by the Ministry of Culture of Spain and named Artist of the Year at the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA).
