Zhongshan Park, originally named Zhaofeng Park, was first constructed by the British national Zhaofeng in Shanghai in 1914, and was a well-known park in Shanghai at that time. Though situated in a noisy commercial district, it offers a tranquil space away from the hustle and bustle. The park is fully furnished with pavilions, rockeries, lawns, flower beds, rivers and ponds, children's playground and other facilities, with great air quality and pleasant environment, making it a perfect venue for nearby residents to carry out outdoor activities. The park is dominated by British natural gardening style, and integrates the essence of Chinese garden art. With a unique style that combines Chinese and Western features, it is an old park in Shanghai that has relatively completely preserved its original landscape style up to now. The 12 famous scenic spots of Zhongshan Park are: Silver Gate Shrouded in Greenery (South Main Gate of the park), Fragrant Flower Dwelling (Peony Garden), Waterside Pavilion in Drizzling Rain (Chenjia Pond), Morning Sunlight on Green Lawn (Grand Lawn), Red Blossoms in Aromatic Garden (Chinese Rose Garden), Twin Lakes Wrapped in Green (Mandarin Duck Lake), Clear Moon over Lotus Pond (Lotus Pond), Elegant Forest Landscape (Landscape Garden), Lone Plane Tree Braving Frost (Large Platanus Tree), Sunset Glow on Stone Pavilion (Marble Pavilion), Rainbow Bridge in Mist (Large Stone Bridge), and Charm of the Old Garden (Back Gate of the park).
