Changchun, known as the "Spring City of the North," is not only the political, economic, and cultural center of Jilin Province, but also a city bearing unique historical imprints and natural beauty. Its rich modern history and abundant ecological resources make it an ideal destination for family trips. This guide aims to provide families traveling with children with a relaxed and enriching 3-day, 2-night itinerary plan for an in-depth experience of Changchun's historical culture and natural charm.

Day 1: Historical Retrospection and City Walk

Morning: Puppet Emperor's Palace Museum

As one of the three major existing palace sites in China, the Museum of the Puppet Emperor's Palace of Manchukuo serves as a window into the unique history of Northeast China in the first half of the 20th century. It was the residence of the last emperor, Puyi, and the ruling center of the puppet state of Manchukuo. The museum covers a vast area, encompassing buildings such as the Jixi Building, Tongde Hall, and Qinmin Building, as well as precious historical artifacts and photographs. It is recommended to allow 3-4 hours for a thorough visit to the various exhibition halls, allowing children to directly experience the imprint of that special period through historical relics and explanations, fostering a sense of historical responsibility.

Lunch: Enjoy local cuisine

In the vicinity of the museum or in the city center, you can choose local specialty restaurants to taste Northeastern cuisine, such as Guo Bao Rou (sweet and sour pork) and Di San Xian (three delicacies from the earth), and experience authentic flavors.

Afternoon: Eight ministries and Cultural Square

In the afternoon, we visited the former site of the "Eight Ministries" of the puppet state of Manchukuo. This area housed various government institutions during the Manchukuo period, and its architecture blends Chinese and Western styles, creating a dignified and elegant atmosphere. Although we didn't go inside, strolling through the area and experiencing its unique architectural aesthetics and historical atmosphere was a special experience in itself. Afterwards, we walked to Cultural Square, the central square of Changchun City, a spacious and beautiful area. Parents can relax here, while children can play freely in the square, enjoying the afternoon sun and leisurely atmosphere.

Dinner: Chongqing Road commercial area

For dinner, you can choose to have it in the Chongqing Road commercial area, which has a variety of restaurants and shopping venues, offering convenience and diverse options.

Day 2: Natural Scenery and the Cradle of Film

Morning to afternoon: Jingyuetan National Forest Park

Jingyuetan National Forest Park, known as "Asia's largest man-made forest," is Changchun's ecological landmark. The park features rolling hills, dense forests, and crystal-clear lakes. Families can enjoy a variety of activities: rent bicycles to cycle around the lake and feel the forest breeze; take a sightseeing bus to tour the main attractions; or choose a lakeside meadow for a picnic or relaxation. In winter, Jingyuetan is a famous ski resort, while in summer it offers water sports. It is recommended to allocate at least half a day to allow children ample time to connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors.

Lunch: A light meal in or around the park

You can dine at the restaurants in Jingyuetan Park, or bring your own light meals for a picnic in a scenic spot.

Afternoon: Changchun Film Studio Site Museum

Changchun Film Studio is one of the cradles of Chinese cinema, and the Changchun Film Studio Site Museum has preserved many aspects of the film industry, including sound stages, film processing workshops, and film props. Here, children can learn about the filmmaking process, watch classic film clips, and even participate in interactive experiences such as dubbing and green screen shooting, sparking their interest in film art. The museum's design is both educational and fun, making it suitable for the whole family to explore together.
