This summer, many tourists chose to travel to Ya'an, Sichuan, to cool off in the mountains, canyons, and caves.

Bifengxia Scenic Area in Yucheng District, Ya'an City, is bustling with tourists seeking respite from the summer heat. With a forest coverage rate exceeding 95%, the canyon area boasts an average annual temperature of 23℃. Capitalizing on the popularity of family and educational tourism, the area has also launched experiential programs such as panda science education and ecological interaction.

Besides the coolness of the canyons and forests, Ya'an's unique geological landscapes also offer tourists diverse options for escaping the summer heat. This summer, the proportion of group tourists and visitors from other regions has increased significantly at Longmen Karst Cave in Lushan County. Tourists come specifically to explore the unique conglomerate cave landscape and enjoy a different kind of coolness in the "natural air conditioner."

In Longcanggou Diecui Creek, Yingjing County, tens of thousands of acres of primeval forest and natural streams create a mountain microclimate. In the height of summer, the perceived temperature in the forest is 6 to 8 degrees Celsius lower than in the city, attracting many families from Sichuan and Chongqing for short trips to escape the summer heat. This year, the local government upgraded some waterfront spots and forest recreation facilities to improve the visitor experience.

According to the Ya'an Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Sports and Tourism, Ya'an boasts nearly 30 summer resorts. It is estimated that the city will receive over 1.8832 million tourists from July to August this year, with total tourism spending expected to reach 1.789 billion yuan, representing year-on-year increases of 10.5% and 4.6%, respectively.
