On the evening of August 16, CCTV News exposed the chaos in the summer travel market. Among the issues, group tours to Kunming and Xishuangbanna in Yunnan Province, advertised as offering extensive itineraries with no shopping stops or extra fees, were frequently plagued by consumer disputes. The actual itineraries often differed significantly from the advertised packages, with hidden shopping, forced consumption, and last-minute price increases occurring frequently.

That evening, the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism issued a statement saying that it attached great importance to the issues related to the "low-price tours" reported in the report and immediately organized relevant prefectures and cities to investigate the travel agencies, tour guides, and shopping venues involved. Once verified, they will be dealt with seriously in accordance with laws and regulations. (Source: China.com)
