Regarding the public's concern about whether free in-flight meals have been cancelled, China Eastern Airlines customer service stated that in order to provide a more diverse range of dining options, the company has launched a paid meal selection service. Meal prices are subject to the system's display. "Normally, if the flight provides meals, there will still be (free meals), but different flights may offer snacks or main meals."

In short, passengers can continue to enjoy normal meals, but they can also purchase meals for a fee. Customer service also stated that each passenger is limited to requesting only one meal in advance per flight, which can be booked through mobile apps, the official website, and mini-programs. "Successfully requesting the 'cloud meal selection' service will replace the normal standard meal on the flight."

Sichuan Airlines customer service stated that passengers can choose to purchase paid meals themselves. "Purchases can be made on the App, with the booking start time being 10 days before departure and the deadline being 48 hours before departure."

Based on responses from multiple airlines, free in-flight meals have not been cancelled. Paid meals are an additional option offered to passengers on top of the existing free service.
