명소 소개

Shanghai City God Temple is located in the City God Temple Tourist Area in downtown Shanghai, also called Old City God Temple, a famous Taoist shrine in Shanghai. Most tourists here come for local snacks and Yu Garden, few know south of Yu Garden hides a quiet Taoist temple, a time-honored blessing shrine to experience local religious culture. Built in Yongle Reign of Ming Dynasty (1403-1424), earlier than Yu Garden, it was severely damaged in the Cultural Revolution and later fully restored. It now has 9 halls including Main Hall, Jiazi Hall, God of Wealth Hall, Cihang Hall and City God Hall. The Main Hall has a plaque reading "City God Temple", enshrining the seated statue of Huo Guang, Han Dynasty's Bolu Marquis and Jinshan Deity, flanked by Civil Judge, Military Judge, Day Patrol, Night Inspection and 8 bailiffs. The Yuanchen Hall (Sixty Jiazi Hall) enshrines 60 Tai Sui gods, where believers worship their natal Tai Sui for peace and good luck. Cihang Hall enshrines Eye Mother Goddess, Cihang Great Master and Tianhou Goddess; God of Wealth Hall enshrines God of Wealth, Immortal Officers for treasure delivery, profit making and treasure collection; Wenchang Hall enshrines Wenchang Emperor with two child attendants Tianlong and Diya. The rear City God Hall enshrines the red-faced wooden statue of Shanghai County City God, furnished like Ming Dynasty county yamen with strict guards. Its east side is Parents Hall enshrining the City God's parents, west side is Goddess Hall enshrining the City God's wife Madam Chu.
