Xintiandi, close to Huaihai Road, is reconstructed from old Shanghai's Shikumen alleyways. Nowadays, it is not only a must-see destination for tourists at home and abroad, but also a fashionable venue that local young people often visit. You can come here in the daytime to watch street snaps of stylish people and savor afternoon tea at leisure, and wander between various bars at night to experience the nightlife of Shanghai. Compared with the crowded and narrow Tianzifang, Xintiandi is more spacious and grand. Various stores for catering, commerce, entertainment and culture are arranged neatly and orderly along a straight pedestrian street. Wandering in Xintiandi, you can still see bluestone walkways, red and cyan exposed brick walls, and heavy black lacquered gates, as if time goes back and you are in Shanghai in the 1920s and 1930s. But stepping into the interior of each building, you will find it very modern and trendy. When you are in the mood, you can also turn into a small side alley to take a walk. The small alleys with few tourists are great places for taking photos, and you will see many professional photographers coming here to find shooting scenes. Xintiandi is divided into two parts: South Block and North Block. The South Block is adjacent to Xintiandi Station of Metro Line 10, dominated by modern buildings, supplemented by old Shikumen buildings. Many characteristic merchants have settled here. You can not only have Chinese cuisine at Din Tai Fung, but also dine at Koyama Japanese Restaurant which always has long queues, as well as PizzaExpress from Italy and Godiva chocolate & drink shops. In addition to catering venues from all over the world, the Xintiandi Style Shopping Mall is also built here. This modern glass curtain wall building gathers well-known trendy stores such as Vera Wang's China flagship store, the celebrity fashion store StayReal owned by Ashin, and JJ Lin's Smudge, as well as a food court, UME Xintiandi Cinema and a one-stop fitness center. The North Block is adjacent to the Huaihai Road business district. There is a "Fountain of Happiness" on the North Block Square at the entrance, with bronze statues of the three gods of Fu, Lu and Shou (Blessing, Prosperity, Longevity) on it, where you can take photos for souvenir. It is composed of many old Shikumen houses, combined with modern architecture, decoration and facilities, and has been transformed into a number of consumption venues and restaurants serving cuisines from all over the world, fully showing the international elements of Xintiandi. In addition to well-known restaurants such as South Beauty and Crystal Jade, there are also a large number of bars in the North Block to enrich your nightlife.
