Huaihai Road is a commercial street as renowned as Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, divided into three sections: East Huaihai Road, West Huaihai Road and Central Huaihai Road. Among them, Central Huaihai Road is the most bustling, lined with numerous department stores, and enjoys the reputation of "the Oriental Champs-Élysées". Wandering on the neon-lit streets at night, you can fully experience the unique fashionable vibe of Shanghai, the Magic City. Different from Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street that symbolizes Shanghai's commercial history, Huaihai Road Commercial Street exudes fashion and style everywhere. There are large department stores, trendy boutique clothing stores, as well as various specialty stores, restaurants and beverage shops. On Huaihai Road, you can enjoy shopping to your heart's content, savor delicious cuisines, take a short rest in the central street green space when tired from strolling, or go to watch a movie. The eastern section of Central Huaihai Road (from South Xizang Road to South Chongqing Road) gathers a large number of office buildings, as well as large commercial complexes including Pacific Department Store Huaihai Branch, Shanghai Times Square, Hong Kong Plaza and Shanghai Plaza, plus IT plazas such as Buynow and Cyber. It is only 400 meters north to People's Square, and more than 300 meters south to well-known attractions including the Site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China and Xintiandi. The middle section of Central Huaihai Road (from South Shaanxi Road to South Chongqing Road) has concentrated department stores, including Parkson, Paris Printemps, 200 Yongxin, Huating Isetan and other fashion department stores, where you can buy all kinds of popular goods and brand apparel. In addition, there are stores such as Shanghai Women's Products Store, Gujin Lingerie Company, National Local Specialties Food Company, as well as many high-end brand specialty stores and flagship stores. Therefore, most visitors who come for shopping will stay in this section. You can take Metro Line 1 or Line 10 and get off at South Shaanxi Road Station. From the western section of Central Huaihai Road (west of South Shaanxi Road) all the way to West Huaihai Road, the commercial atmosphere gradually fades away, replaced by a large number of residential communities and old villas, and there are also scenic buildings such as Shanghai Library. East Huaihai Road is relatively short, but it connects to Renmin Road, and it is not far to walk to the Town God's Temple tourist area, which takes about 15-20 minutes.
