At the pop-up bookstore "Full Moon Bookstore," visitors can read and purchase books selected by editors from over a hundred publishing houses; stroll through the Shikumen neighborhood of Xintiandi and enjoy Mediterranean-style street performances; admire traditional Chinese animation IP displays at Yu Garden and experience AR park tours powered by technology... Recently, after nightfall in Shanghai, a variety of emerging cultural and artistic activities have emerged, integrating multiple consumption scenarios such as culture, commerce, tourism, sports, and exhibitions, making the streets bustling and the nighttime economy highly active.

This year, the 9th Lu Xun Literary Prize was awarded in Shanghai. In the Sinan Mansions district of downtown Shanghai, the "Lu Xun Literary Prize Winners in Sinan" themed exhibition was open until the evening, allowing visitors and readers to experience the charm of literature up close. The exhibition brings together works by 65 Lu Xun Literary Prize-winning authors, breaking away from the single model of text and image displays. Reading text, browsing videos, listening to instrumental performances, and tasting specially crafted drinks create an immersive experience centered around literature.

Fan Meichen, deputy general manager of Sinan Mansions, said that the "Sinan Literature Month" event from August to September brought a significant increase in visitor traffic and consumption data in the area. Five different themed literary spaces were set up throughout the area for citizens and tourists to "check in," and they could also use consumption vouchers to shop and draw blind boxes of cultural and creative products.

A piano that "burns" has recently become an internet sensation at Fuxing Park in Shanghai, garnering tens of thousands of likes on social media. The sound, light, and electrical installations create the effect of the piano "burning," echoing the performer's playing. Interested visitors have been trying their hand at playing, with some both Chinese and foreign tourists taking photos and videos on the spot.

Maxime, a tourist from France, said, "We came here based on recommendations from an AI model and found the nighttime experience to be amazing. There are many tourists relaxing here, and the atmosphere feels just as beautiful as the Tuileries Garden in the heart of Paris."

Fuxing Park recently launched a new nighttime amusement park project. In this century-old park, immersive theater and amusement facilities are integrated into one – a carousel driven by a giant puppet, a bumper car challenge initiated by a boxing champion, a suitcase guarded by a magical wanderer, and other imaginative and novel activities to bring urban night tours.

Reporters learned that this year, several landmark locations in Shanghai's nighttime economy have continued to enrich nighttime consumption offerings and innovate consumption scenarios, focusing on cultural and artistic fields such as nighttime entertainment, shows, and reading, thus promoting the large-scale, high-quality, and diversified development of the nighttime economy. Taking the Yu Garden area as an example, weekend nighttime visitor traffic increased by 17% compared to the previous week.

"Our 'Wonderful Night Shanghai' series of events this year will run from June to the end of September, covering key holidays such as the Dragon Boat Festival, summer vacation, and Mid-Autumn Festival. We welcome citizens and tourists to experience the vibrant nighttime economy," said a relevant official from the Huangpu District Commerce Commission of Shanghai. (Source: Xinhua News Agency)
