The State Fire and Rescue Administration held a regular press conference on September 3 to interpret the "Work Plan for Improving the Fire Safety Awareness of All Citizens" jointly issued by seven departments and to answer questions from reporters. At the conference, a reporter asked how the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will strengthen fire safety management in cultural and tourism venues.

Li Xiaoyong, Deputy Director of the Market Management Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, introduced that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will earnestly implement the work plan of the campaign to improve the fire safety awareness of all citizens, and, in light of the characteristics of cultural and tourism venues, focus on the following four aspects:

First, we must strengthen the primary responsibility for fire safety. We must adhere to the principle of prevention first and combining prevention with firefighting, and ensure that public cultural institutions and cultural and tourism businesses fulfill their primary responsibilities. We must urge all types of businesses to improve their fire safety management systems and emergency plans, and ensure that responsibilities are assigned to specific posts and individuals. We must closely monitor key aspects such as the use of fire and electricity, fire-fighting facilities, evacuation routes, and safety exits, and conduct regular fire hazard inspections and rectifications, integrating fire safety requirements throughout the entire business operation process.

Second, we have focused on fire drills and training. Every year, we hold national emergency drills for cultural and tourism safety, and conduct safety training for key personnel of major cultural and tourism enterprises nationwide using a "main classroom + branch classroom" format. In the past two years, nearly 100,000 people have been trained. Building on this foundation, we guide local cultural and tourism administrative departments, public cultural institutions, and cultural and tourism operators to regularly conduct fire drills and training, continuously enhancing the coverage and practicality of these exercises, and comprehensively improving fire safety awareness and capabilities in the cultural and tourism sector.

Third, we will strengthen joint fire safety inspections and supervision. Focusing on key periods such as holidays and peak tourist seasons, and closely monitoring key locations, we will work with fire departments to conduct cross-departmental joint law enforcement inspections and unannounced spot checks. We will strictly investigate violations such as illegal use of fire and electricity and locking of safety exits. For any problems or hidden dangers discovered, we will establish a ledger, set deadlines for rectification, and jointly supervise the handling of the issues, resolutely safeguarding the bottom line of cultural and tourism safety.

Fourth, we will widely promote public awareness and guidance. We will fully leverage the advantages of cultural and tourism venues, which directly face the public and tourists and have a wide reach, to publicize fire safety knowledge through various forms and channels, including visitor centers, venue screens, public exhibition areas, websites, and new media platforms. We will also issue travel tips, broadcast public service announcements on fire safety, and continuously improve the public's fire safety awareness and self-rescue capabilities, thus contributing to the overall improvement of fire safety literacy.
