The fragrance of books permeates the plateau, and poetry fills Delingha. On August 29, 2026, to deepen the construction of "culture enriching the city" and nurture the city's cultural roots, renowned host Ouyang Xiadan was invited to the foot of Cypress Mountain in Delingha to hold an outdoor book-sharing event embracing nature. Local literature enthusiasts and students gathered in the mountains, using the sky as their backdrop and the earth as their seat, reading classics amidst the gentle breeze and greenery, allowing the power of reading to take root and sprout on the plateau.

With verdant mountains as a backdrop and the open fields as a mat, this book-sharing event leveraged the unique natural ecology of Cypress Mountain. Surrounded by wheat fields, the venue was elegantly and simply decorated, imbued with a rich cultural atmosphere. Participants sat together, engaging in equal and relaxed dialogue. Highland yogurt, tsampa, fresh goji berries, and other local specialties were laid out on the tables. The melodious tunes of the morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) flowed gently, blending with the soft singing of the resident singer, washing away the noise and restlessness, creating a serene and enriching spiritual atmosphere. Breaking away from the traditional book club model, this novel format of reading together around a table allowed ideas to collide in the exchange, truly integrating reading into real life.

A good book can illuminate countless states of mind. During the sharing and exchange session, participants took turns to the stage, bringing their favorite books and sharing their insights based on their personal experiences. The atmosphere was sincere and enthusiastic, with sparks of thought constantly igniting. The students spoke in simple and pure language about what they had gained from reading, their words revealing the thoughtfulness and vitality of a new generation of youth nurtured by books. As a special guest, Ouyang Xiadan shared her travel experiences and reading insights with the audience. She stated that reading can help people overcome the many obstacles on life's journey, better examine themselves, find peace of mind, and discover their own spiritual home. Her sincere and heartfelt sharing resonated widely with the audience, bringing the event to a climax.

Using plants and trees as tokens, and leaving traces through handcrafted creations, the event featured a special hands-on bookmark-making experience. Participants gathered wildflowers and branches from the mountains to create their own unique bookmarks. These small bookmarks seamlessly blended the charm of nature with the power of words, making the concept of reading an integral part of life tangible and relatable. Through this hands-on creation process, participants connected with nature, appreciated the words, and engaged in a two-way dialogue between literature and the natural world.

Sharing life experiences and reciting poems inspired by the highlands. During the free exchange session, participants sat together, chatting about everyday life and reflecting on life. Poems such as "Sister, Tonight I'm in Delingha" (evoking vastness) and "Facing the Sea, Spring Blossoms" (showing warmth and vitality) were recited one after another, filling the small highland town with poetic charm. Cai Qianlong, Director of the Delingha Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, spontaneously performed a Mongolian dance, her graceful yet powerful movements showcasing the vibrant spirit of the grassland people. A Mongolian singer presented a powerful and melodious throat singing performance, her expansive and profound voice moving the entire audience and evoking a deep cultural resonance. As the event drew to a close, everyone enjoyed local highland delicacies, signed autographs, and took photos, capturing the warm memories of this cultural event amidst laughter and joy.

Traveling through mountains and rivers, her lens enhances cultural tourism. During her trip to Delingha, Ouyang Xiadan visited cultural and tourism landmarks such as the Haizi Poetry Museum, the Tree of Life Photography Base, and Tosu Lake, completing a series of scenic shots from the perspective of a travel observer. From the poetic Haizi Poetry Museum to the Tree of Life deep in the Gobi Desert, witnessing the perseverance of the plateau, and then to the shimmering Tosu Lake, she used her lens to record the cultural heritage and natural beauty of Delingha. She then released the footage through her personal social media platforms, using her influence to encourage more netizens to pay attention to, yearn for, and visit Delingha, injecting lasting momentum into the promotion of the local cultural tourism brand.

This cultural trip to Delingha was a joint effort between Delingha City and Zhan Guan Culture, a cultural practice centered around the theme of "My Country Knows Me, Understanding China Through Culture," and also an innovative exploration of local initiatives to promote "culture enriching the city." Breaking away from traditional frameworks, the event organically combined reading, music, handicrafts, and walking to create an immersive cultural experience, elevating individual understanding to collective resonance. This initiative not only demonstrates the plateau people's commitment to their spiritual home but also provides a valuable practical model for promoting reading among ethnic minorities, fostering consensus through cultural empathy and injecting fresh vitality into the cultural development of plateau cities.
