Rainfall in many parts of East and South China; cooler temperatures in many parts of North China; autumn clothing making its debut.
Affected by Typhoon Saudel and monsoon air currents, many parts of East and South China will experience continuous heavy rainfall over the next three days (September 2nd to 4th). The rain will be particularly intense in Fujian and Guangdong, requiring vigilance against the cumulative effects and potential secondary disasters such as landslides and mudslides. Meanwhile, most of northern China will enjoy sunny skies, while autumn chills will gradually set in many parts of Northwest, Northeast, and North China. Harbin and Changchun have already entered autumn, and it will be time to wear autumn clothing.
Multiple tropical systems are developing; East and South China need to be alert to persistent heavy rainfall.
In the early hours of September 1st, Typhoon Saudel re-emerged in the northwestern part of the South China Sea, intensifying into a typhoon once again. Affected by Saudel, monsoon air currents, and cold air, heavy rainfall occurred in many parts of East and South China. Monitoring showed that some areas in southern Jiangsu, southeastern Zhejiang, eastern Fujian, southern Jiangxi, southeastern Hunan, and eastern Guangdong experienced torrential rain or extremely heavy rain, with localized areas in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, and Ningde and Putian, Fujian experiencing exceptionally heavy rain.
Over the next three days, under the combined influence of Typhoon Saudel and the monsoon, coupled with the moisture transported to the southeastern coast of my country by Typhoon Krowan, heavy rainfall is expected in central and eastern Jiangnan and eastern South China.
The National Meteorological Center forecasts that today, parts of southeastern Hunan, central and southern Jiangxi, eastern and southern Zhejiang, eastern and southern Fujian, eastern Guangdong, southern Taiwan, and eastern Heilongjiang will experience heavy to torrential rain, with some areas in southern Jiangxi, southern Zhejiang, northeastern and southeastern Fujian, eastern Guangdong, and southern Taiwan experiencing extremely heavy rain.
Tomorrow, parts of Taiwan Island, southern Jiangnan, and eastern South China will experience heavy to torrential rain, with some areas in southeastern Fujian and eastern Guangdong experiencing extremely heavy rain, and localized areas in southeastern Guangdong experiencing exceptionally heavy rain.
The day after tomorrow, moderate to heavy rain is expected in parts of southern Jiangnan, central and northern South China, western Yunnan, and Taiwan, with some areas in northern and eastern Guangdong and eastern Taiwan experiencing torrential rain or extremely heavy rain.
Typhoon Saudel is expected to linger in the northeastern part of the South China Sea, bringing prolonged rainfall. The windward slopes of the coastal areas of Zhejiang and Fujian, as well as Taiwan Island, may experience further intensified rainfall due to orographic lifting. Continuous heavy rainfall is expected along the coasts of East and South China, and vigilance is needed to prevent secondary disasters such as mudslides and landslides that may be triggered by the heavy rainfall.
Temperatures remain low in most parts of southern China, and a noticeable chill is felt in many parts of northern China; it's time to bring out your autumn clothes.
Affected by rainfall and cold air, the maximum temperature in most parts of southern China will be slightly lower than normal over the next three days, with many areas in Jiangnan and South China experiencing temperatures below 30℃. Among major cities, Hefei and Nanjing will both see maximum temperatures below 30℃ over the next week. Hefei's minimum temperature on September 3rd and 4th will be only 20℃, with a significant chill in the mornings and evenings, so it's necessary to add layers to avoid catching a cold.
The Sichuan Basin will be affected by a weak cold front over the next three days, causing the area affected by high temperatures to shrink. However, the high-temperature zone will expand again after the 5th as the subtropical high pressure strengthens. Nevertheless, humidity in these areas will decrease significantly, alleviating the muggy feeling.
Autumn is gradually setting in many parts of northern China. Over the next three days, eastern Northwest China, North China, and the Huanghuai region will enjoy plenty of sunshine during the day, with high temperatures approaching or reaching 30℃. However, temperatures will drop significantly in the mornings and evenings, with a diurnal temperature range generally exceeding 10℃, and reaching over 15℃ in some areas. As cold air masses increase, the arrival of autumn in northern China is accelerating. Harbin and Changchun officially entered autumn on August 26th, while Yinchuan, Taiyuan, and other cities will soon follow suit. It's time to bring out long sleeves and trousers for autumn wear.
