Huangshan promotes cultural and tourism integration through tea; Mao Feng tea from Tangkou production area enters Tunxi.
Recently, the "Tea Gathering in Tunxi, Consensus on Production Areas" Huangshan Maofeng Tangkou Production Area Thematic Tasting and Promotion Conference was held in Huangshan, Anhui Province. The conference introduced high-quality tea from the Tangkou small production area at the southern gateway of Huangshan to the city's cultural tourism window, using tea as a bridge to connect production area resources with tourist traffic, and exploring a new path for the integrated development of the tea industry and cultural tourism.
Tangkou Town, located at the southern gateway of Huangshan Scenic Area, is a core production area of Huangshan Maofeng tea. Its tea gardens are mostly situated at altitudes of 700-900 meters. The dense forests, abundant cloud cover, and significant diurnal temperature variations, combined with the unique gravelly soil, create the distinctive "high-mountain coolness" of Tangkou Maofeng tea. The tea soup is clear and refreshing, with a high-pitched orchid aroma and a sweet aftertaste. In the past, local tea sales relied heavily on shops within the scenic area, and the unique terroir of the Tangkou production area was not fully recognized by the market.
Tunxi District of Huangshan City, as the city's central urban area, serves as a hub for tourist distribution and an important platform for showcasing and exchanging Anhui tea. This event, held at the Huangshan Yuanchun Tea Space, featured local Tangkou tea companies showcasing samples of various grades of Mao Feng tea, including pre-Qingming and pre-rain varieties. These samples, accompanied by regional display boards and tea garden images, included terroir education, tea-making techniques sharing, and tea tasting demonstrations. The event provided a platform for product display, exchange, and networking for tourists, local tea enthusiasts, and channel merchants, allowing guests to directly experience the unique quality and characteristics of Tangkou high-mountain Mao Feng tea and promoting cooperation between production and sales.
"Bringing high-quality tea from the production area to the central urban area where tourists gather not only provides local small and medium-sized tea enterprises with free channels for display and promotion, expanding their market sales, but also allows citizens and tourists to immerse themselves in the tea culture of the Huangshan small production area in Tunxi." Ji Houlin, the manager of the space, said that this Tangkou special event is the first demonstration event in the "Tea Gathering in Tunxi - Consensus on Production Area" series.
Next, Ji Houlin stated that they will continue to explore the value of various small Anhui tea-producing areas, regularly carry out regional promotion activities, promote the two-way linkage between tea gardens, tea mountain resources and urban cultural tourism traffic, empower cultural tourism consumption with tea culture, help improve the quality of Anhui tea brands, and contribute to local rural revitalization.
