On September 1, reporters learned from Shanghai Airport Group that since the start of the summer travel season on July 1, Shanghai's two major international airports, Pudong and Hongqiao, have handled a total of 151,000 flight takeoffs and landings. Pudong International Airport handled 102,000 flights, and Hongqiao International Airport handled 49,000 flights. The airports also handled 25.281 million passengers, averaging 407,000 passengers per day. Pudong International Airport handled 16.394 million passengers, and Hongqiao International Airport handled 8.887 million passengers.

As part of its comprehensive development into a multi-modal international aviation hub, Shanghai Airport Group actively supports airlines in adding and increasing the frequency of their routes. In the international market, seven new destinations have been added, including Dublin, Ireland; Tbilisi, Georgia; and Krasnoyarsk, Russia. Frequency increases have also been added to popular routes such as Marseille, France; Athens, Greece; Barcelona, Spain; Venice, Italy; Geneva, Switzerland; Jeju Island, South Korea; and Almaty, Kazakhstan. In the domestic market, a new destination, Shache, Xinjiang, has been added. Frequency increases have also been added to routes to Kunming, Guiyang, Hailar, Yanji, and Urumqi, further meeting the travel demands of passengers during the summer holidays.

The "Shanghai-to-Shanghai Connectivity: Convenient Transfers" product line continues to expand. Building on the existing cross-building international transfer through-flight services launched by China Eastern, Juneyao Airlines, and Sichuan Airlines, China Southern Airlines has added a two-way transfer service between "domestic cities—Shanghai Pudong—Ho Chi Minh City," enabling a seamless transfer experience of "one-stop check-in and direct baggage transfer," making it more convenient and efficient for passengers to transfer from domestic trunk lines to international long-haul routes.

Meanwhile, both major international airports have continued to refine their service procedures for special needs passengers, building upon their existing "special needs lanes." Shanghai Pudong International Airport has expanded its services to include unaccompanied children and teenagers aged 13-16, and has established a "slow service zone" for elderly passengers, offering free wheelchair rentals, handwritten note guidance, and other services. Shared wheelchairs, strollers, and baby strollers have been deployed in key areas. The T2 domestic mixed-flow level has opened a 110-square-meter infant-friendly space, fully functional and thoughtfully designed, which is very popular with families. Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, in collaboration with Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, has implemented a "one-booking, two-airport access" special needs passenger lane system, and has also opened a dedicated pet waiting area and security checkpoint, providing pet rest and short-term pet boarding services, becoming a popular spot for passengers to take photos.
